Welcome!

The Yakima County emergency medical system includes EMS personnel (First Responders, EMTs, and Paramedics) who work at fire departments and ambulance services. The ongoing training of these EMS personnel is provided by the Yakima County Department of Emergency Medical Services (EMS office).

The EMS office creates and implements training for over 670 certified emergency medical personnel. This training is provided county wide, hosted by each of the county fire districts and city fire departments in Yakima County.

The EMS office provides medical direction and protocols for the county’s emergency response system under the authority of the local Medical Program Director. In addition, the EMS office oversees certification and testing for all levels of EMS personnel and provides initial training for EMTs.

We disseminate a bi-monthly EMS Newsletter as well as information regarding the latest protocol changes, upcoming courses or other issues that may impact the provision of emergency medical services.
